GreenTech International Launches Breakthrough Solution To Eliminate Biofilms And Chlorine-resistant Pathogens
A new UK-based company, GreenTech International, has entered the pool and spa sector to further enhance global water safety and bather experience.
GreenTech has launched the world’s safest Hydro Dioxide tablet, providing commercial pool and spa operators with an effective new way to eliminate biofilms and the dangerous pathogens they protect, something conventional treatments routinely fail to achieve.
Biofilms are one of the most persistent and underestimated risks in wet leisure environments. Forming deep within pipework, filters and surfaces, they create a protective shield for harmful bacteria, allowing them to survive disinfection, re-enter circulation and repeatedly compromise water quality. The result is not only poor bather experience, including skin irritation and infections, but also the presence of serious health threats such as Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Legionella, E. coli and Cryptosporidium oocysts alongside ongoing damage to plant infrastructure and spiralling maintenance costs.
Despite this, biofilms remain widely misunderstood across the industry, with many operators unknowingly treating symptoms in the water rather than the root cause within the system. GreenTech has been founded to change this.
Led by industry pool operations and treatment specialists, James Lee (above right) and Steve Martin (above left), who bring more than 80 years of combined experience, the company introduces a science-led approach that targets biofilms at source rather than relying solely on traditional sanitisation methods.
Dr Xavier Darok (above middle) has been appointed as Chief Product Officer and Head of European Sales Development. With almost two decades of experience in water treatment, product development and industry regulation, Darok will lead product strategy and European sales while continuing his involvement in European water and pool industry standards committees. He currently serves as President of the Health, Safety and Environment Commission for the French Federation of Pool Professionals (FPP) and works closely with several European technical commissions focused on water supply and pool safety.
At the centre of the GreenTech launch is Hydro Dioxide, the result of more than 15 years of specialist research into chlorine dioxide and biofilm behaviour. Delivered in a fast-dissolving tablet, the solution is designed to penetrate and break down biofilm structures throughout entire systems, exposing and eliminating the bacteria and pathogens hidden within.
The difference is fundamental. While chlorine struggles to penetrate biofilms, Hydro Dioxide works through them, removing the protective layer and stopping the continuous cycle of contamination that many operators have come to accept as unavoidable.
James, co-founder and biofilm specialist, explained: “Operators are often fighting a problem they can’t see with tools that were never designed to solve it. Biofilms sit behind the scenes, protecting harmful bacteria and contaminating systems again and again. Until you remove that layer, the problem never truly goes away. Hydro Dioxide changes that by targeting the source, not just the symptoms.”
Designed for commercial pools, spas and hot tubs the solution offers operators a simple, safe and cost-effective way to regain control. It works within existing systems, removing the need for repeated draining and refilling, reducing water waste and lowering overall chemical demand while improving clarity, air quality and operational efficiency.
Crucially, Hydro Dioxide achieves this without producing harmful disinfection by-products (DBP’s) such as trihalomethanes (THMs) Chloroform and Haloacetic acids (HAA’s), an increasing concern for both regulators and operators focused on health and environmental performance.
Manufactured in the UK and fully compliant with GB BPR, ISO, OHSAS standards and Net Zero 2027, the product aligns with modern sustainability targets while delivering a step change in performance.
With its launch, GreenTech International is positioning itself not just as a product provider, but as a catalyst for change, improving water hygiene standards and strengthening the industry’s understanding and management of water systems.
Biofilms are not inevitable. With the right approach, they can be tackled at source and are entirely preventable.
